FSU football: Brock Glenn gives hope for the future in loss to Clemson
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football came into the Clemson game as +17 betting underdogs and managed to cover the spread, losing 29-13. It was a frustrating game to watch as redshirt freshman quarterback Brock Glenn gave hope for the program's future despite multiple drops and an offensive line that couldn't pass or run block. Glenn finished the game 23 of 41 for 228 yards, with two touchdowns and an interception. FSU had at least five drops on the night that helped prevent the FSU offense from surpassing the 300 total-yard mark for the sixth consecutive game. Glenn only took two sacks and had 15 yards rushing on five attempts.
He gives the offense something DJ Uiagalelei didn't and should be the starter for the remainder of the year. He attacked several times vertically, putting the ball on the money a few times. He also attacked through the air while in the red zone. His two touchdown passes were over the middle in tight windows. Glenn is a gamer who plays with confidence and seems to have lit a spark with this team. The defense had its usual issues but still held Clemson to several field goals, and one of their touchdowns came on a short field after the Glenn interception.
I can only imagine what Glenn could do if he had a competent running game and receivers who could catch. That should be the goal the rest of the year, determining who is worth keeping on the roster and building around Glenn as long he continues to progress. FSU will have a bye week next week, but this team can beat their next opponent, Duke, with Brock Glenn at QB.
