Gonna Be A Long Season

FSU football is 0-3 for the second time in the Mike Norvell era. The Noles entered the 2024 season ranked No. 10, with expectations to repeat as ACC Champions and earn a spot in the 12-team College Football Playoff. Neither will happen after watching this team over the first three weeks this season. I had this team going anywhere from 9-3 at worst and 11-1 at best.

The sad part is I was right about several teams on the schedule that others were afraid of, but I was wrong about this team. Every was wrong about this 2024 FSU team. The other sad part is it's not a talent issue. FSU is more talented than all three teams they've lost to this season. They are inexperienced, undisciplined, soft, and patentedly bad at others. Nobody expected FSU to have this start, but now I'm not sure we can count any game on the schedule as a sure win unless some major changes happen with the offense.

I counted the first three games as wins for FSU, and they were double-digit betting favorites in two. They were a touchdown betting favorite against Memphis, but those days of being betting favorites might be over. The games against California and SMU on the horizon can't be looked at like automatic wins. Clemson, Miami, Notre Dame, and North Carolina look like automatic losses.

That leaves Duke, who FSU has never lost against, Charleston Southern, and Florida. I suppose it depends on whether you continue to get effort from the FSU defense and if Mike Norvell makes changes on offense. I don't know if Mike Norvell has lost this team, but if he has, there may not be any game on the schedule that's a guaranteed win, except Charleston Southern. FSU may not qualify for a bowl game unless something drastic happens.
