FSU football: A glance at Georgia by the numbers for the Orange Bowl
By Kelvin Hunt
No. 5 FSU football will look to continue its winning ways when they travel to Miami for the Orange Bowl game against the No. 6 Georgia Bulldogs. The game will air on ESPN at 4 p.m. The Noles are +17 betting favorites, with an over/under points total of 44.5. Those odds imply a 31-14 FSU loss. The two teams haven't played since the first weekend of this month, and the rosters will look different from those games. There will be close to 40 players who have played significant snaps not playing in this game because they have opted for the 2024 NFL Draft or entered the transfer portal.
Georgia is (12-1, 8-0 SEC) with their lone loss against Alabama in the SEC Championship game. The loss snapped a 29 game winning streak for the two-time defending National Champions.

Thoughts
Georgia has a ton of opt-outs that will affect some of their production, including missing their leading receiver, Brock Bowers. They will also likely be without a name familiar to FSU fans, offensive lineman Amarius Mims. Georgia will have a big advantage at quarterback with starter Carson Beck announcing he'll return for 2024 and will play in the game. FSU's defense hasn't allowed more than 24 points all season but will be without starters Jared Verse, Akeem Dent, Renardo Green, and possibly others. I think the defense can be competitive, but can the offense do anything at all with so much production missing and freshman Brock Glenn starting? At the very least, it'll be a great opportunity for some young guys to gain valuable experience going into 2024.
