OL ANDRE OTTO

Florida State's offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins is suspended for the first three games of the 2024 season due to a recruiting violation. Assistant coach Gabe Fertitta has stepped in during his absence.

I did not anticipate the loss of Atkins being as much of a factor (maybe it isn't) but the offensive line has underperformed. The unit was supposed to be a strength of the team after having all of those fifth and sixth-year players in the position.

The tackle position has been disappointing with Jeremiah Byers injured, Robert Scott Jr. struggling with consistency, and Jaylen Early being thrown into action. However, something has to give. I get the notion that the box is being loaded up due to there not being a threat to throw it downfield. However, the offensive line has to find viable options to protect the quarterback and create rushing lanes.

As it stands, I think that offensive lineman Andre Otto could be a factor for the unit (if they allow it). They have already started to cross-train him at center, interior offensive lineman, and offensive tackle (the Darius Washington role). Could Otto be exactly what they need at the right tackle position?
