FSU football: 6 reasons DJ Uiagalelei could silence critics in 2024

Mike Norvell's Offesive Track Record
Mike Norvell says it all the time, but his offense is one built for playmakers. He's a former wide receiver, offensive coordinator, turned head coach, thought to be one of the sharpest offensive minds in college football. If we look at the past few years at FSU and his time at Memphis, he's always had high-scoring offenses with explosive plays.
Team | PPG | YPP |
---|---|---|
2016 Memphis | 38.8 | 6.25 |
2017 Memphis | 45.5 | 7.35 |
2018 Memphis | 42.9 | 7.12 |
2019 Memphis | 40.4 | 6.85 |
2022 FSU | 36.1 | 6.96 |
2023 FSU | 34.6 | 6.27 |
I didn't count the 2020 and 2021 years at FSU because of the impact of the COVID pandemic canceling his first spring and limiting the program through the beginning of the 2021 season. We also have to keep in mind the last three games of 2023 were played without his starting QB. However, these numbers(especially at Memphis) were achieved without top tier recruits at the skill positions or at quarterback. He's had guys far lesser talented than DJ Uiagalelei at quarterback and scored a ton of points.
