FSU football: 6 biggest winners from 2024 NFL Combine
By Kelvin Hunt
Jared Verse
FSU defensive end Jared Vere went into the NFL Combine as a sure first-round selection but likely guaranteed himself as a top-10 selection. He ran the fourth-fastest 40 time at 4.58 with a 1.6 10-yard split. Verse had a 35" vertical and the second-longest broad jump at 10' 7". He also had the third-fastest 3-cone drill at 7.31, and the third-fastest 20-yard shuttle at (4.44). Verse showed he has speed and power, putting up 31 reps on the bench press, which was first overall.
For comparison, Jared Verse had the same 40 time as former FSU DE Jermaine Johnson. Johnson had a slightly faster 10-yard split. However, Verse had a better vertical and broad jump. Johnson didn't compete in the bench press, but I think Verse probably would have best him there. Jermaine Johnson was the No. 26 overall selection in the 2022 NFL Draft and made his first NFL Pro Bowl this past season.
