FSU football: 5 most valuable offensive players in 2023
By Kelvin Hunt
Johnny Wilson
Thank goodness Johnny Wilson returned for the 2023 season. He was arguably FSU's most consistent and reliable receiver when healthy. Outside of the Southern Mississippi game, where he had several dropped passes, he caught nearly everything that came his way, nearly surpassing his receptions total from last season in three fewer games. He finished the season with 41 receptions for 617 yards and two touchdowns. While he saw a slight reduction in his yards per reception average, I think Wilson improved his NFL Draft stock over the previous season.
He has at least three receptions in every game played and four games with 80+ receiving yards, including 100-yard games against LSU and Boston College. The game against Clemson might have been his most impressive, hauling in five receptions for 94 yards against one of the best secondaries in the nation. Wilson's appearance on the field opened up a lot plays for others like Keon Coleman, Jaheim Bell, and Kyle Morlock. Wilson has declared for the NFL Draft and should be a top 100 selection in a few months.
