What Does Pass Rush Look Like?

The FSU defense front was arguably the best in the nation towards the end of the 2023 season. They tied for third nationally with 46 sacks, and No. 7 nationally with 100 tackles for loss. The performances they put on against a top-25 offense in Louisville in the ACC Championship was one for the ages, and much of that was due to the pass rush working in conjunction with the secondary. Replacing Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, and Fabien Lovett will be no small task. However, the duo of Joshua Farmer and Darrell Jackson at defensive tackle has the potential to collapse offensive lines up the middle. Patrick Payton has proven capable of rushing the passer at times. Byron Turner Jr. retuns, and FSU added three huge additions from the transfer portal. Marvin Jones Jr. Tomiwa Durojaiye, and Sione Lolohea have the potential to form another formidable defensive front.

Jones Jr. is a former five-star with some experience, Durojaiye moves well for a plus-size guy with experience, and Lolohea was a 2nd team Pac-12 selection last season. On paper, this group might be better than last year's team as a collective and likely better than the 2022 team. However, Jared Verse was so good against the run and could rush the passer, which is why he'll be a top-15 pick in the NFL Draft next month. I'm curious how everything will look with all of the new talent.
