Daniel Lyons-DT

One of the major disappointments on Saturday against Georgia Tech was the defensive line's inability to dominate the line of scrimmage. The duo of former high school teammates Joshua Farmer and Darrell Jackson look poised to be one of the better tandems in the ACC, if not the nation. They looked like who you want to get off the bus first but didn't play anything like it. However, Daniel Lyons played like he had some what for when he got on the field, as evidenced by the clip I showed earlier with Blake Nichelson.

Winning at the line of scrimmage is everything, and FSU didn't do enough on Saturday afternoon. I'm not saying Daniel Lyons should start, but if Farmer and Jackson aren't getting it done, Lyons flashed enough to warrant more snaps. Also, nothing is more motivating than not getting the snaps you thought you would get. That competition might be what's needed to light a fire under the guys we expected the most from this season.
