OT DARIUS WASHINGTON

Florida State's offensive line was supposed to be a bright spot on the team during the 2024 season. However, after two games of the campaign, it has been less than ideal with such a veteran group.

Part of it could be the fact that offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins is suspended during the first three games of the 2024 season due to a recruiting violation (will return in the home contest versus California).

However, this offensive line has fifth and sixth-year players such as Darius Washington, Maurice Smith, Richie Leonard IV, Jeremiah Byers, Keiondre Jones, Jacob Rizy, and Bryson Estes, among others. The veterans have to step up in a huge way to help the offense protect quarterback DJ Uiagalelei (or whoever the signal-caller is) and provide rushing lanes for the backs.

I expect offensive tackle Darius Washington to bounce back massively versus Memphis. During the offseason, head football coach Mike Norvell was very high on Washington's ability where he called him an All-American. He allowed two sacks versus Boston College in the last game. They need their left tackle to get to his old self again and I fully expect him to do so.
