No. 1 Linebackers

The FSU defense looks poised to have another great year with more depth and arguably more overall talent than in 2023. Many of the positions have been solidified. We know Patrick Payton, Joshua Farmer, and Darrell Jackson will start on the defensive line. DJ Lundy will start at one of the linebacker positions if healthy. AZ Thomas and Fentrell Cypress will be the starting cornerbacks, and Shyheim Brown will be one of the safety starters.

The depth in the front and back end is known, but there's still a question at linebacker. Transfer Cam Riley has been great since arriving this summer and had arguably his best practice earlier this week. Does he continue to flash? Does Justin Cryer, Blake Nichelson, or Omar Graham Jr. fight for that starting spot or show they can be solid backups? Mike Norvell mentioned DJ Lundy has been limited so far, so this scrimmage could be a prime opportunity for one of these players to seize the moment and make a move on the depth chart.
