FSU football: 3 reasons Marvin Jones Jr. reaches potential at FSU
By Kelvin Hunt
Physical Traits
Jermaine Johnson ranked as the No. 2,104 player nationally and No. 104 defensive end out of high school. Jared Verse didn't even have a recruiting ranking out of high school. Patrick Payton ranked as the No. 329 player nationally and No. 38 linebacker out of high school. Here's where it gets different. Marvin Jones Jr. ranked No. 24 nationally and No. 3 defensive end out of high school. Not only that, but his father is arguably the best FSU linebacker in history.
He's an FSU Hall of Famer and College Football Hall of Famer. The bloodline and pedigree is there for greatness. Jones Jr. list at 6'5" and 250 pounds, roughly the same size as Jermaine Johnson when he arrived at FSU in 2021 spring. The physical ability is there, but it must be harnessed, and there's no reason he can't do that at FSU in a system tailored for pass rushers to do it all. It's up to him and a coaching staff with a track record to accomplish it.
