FSU football has valid questions about its wide receiving unit going into the 2024 season. If you read the site, you'd know I recently wrote I expect the wide receiver unit to be better than most expect. I laid out those reasons here. If you've been a reader of the site for a while, you probably have heard me say it's difficult for freshmen wide receivers to transition to college and make an impact in year one. It's not an opinion because it's a fact backed up by years of historical data.

Think of all the talented receivers over the years who made an impact in year one without redshirting. Rashad Green immediately comes to mind from nearly 15 years ago, but there are not many others. It happens every spring or fall, some freshmen receive high praise from the coaches and the media, only to disappear once the season begins. They don't even appear on the two-deep a lot of times. I think it'll be with McCoy. Here are three reasons why I think that's the case.
