Defensive End

The defensive end position has been one that frustrates FSU fans when it comes to high school recruiting. The Noles landed two promising blue-chip targets in the 2024 recruiting cycle in DD Holmes and Amaree Williams. The latter was a reclassification from the 2025 recruiting class and will likely need at least one year to continue physically developing before he can contribute. FSU has a commitment from Javion Hilson, the No. 34 player and the No. 1 defensive end nationally.

They need at least one more quality defensive end at the position after taking two guys (Lamont Green Jr. and Jaden Jones) who needed 1-2 years before they're ready to contribute in the 2023 recruiting class. Holmes from the 2024 class could contribute early since he's already 6'6" and 250 pounds. Hilson is the type of guy who can contribute in year one, and FSU needs to start taking more guys like that from the high school ranks. Four-star Jared Smith looks to be the lone remaining target on their recruiting board for now.
