Notre Dame also made my five toughest games mainly because they have a lot of talent and depth. However, Notre Dame literally plays nobody before hosting the Noles in late November. Louisville or Georgia Tech will be the toughest games they'll have until then. Louisville lost a lot from the team that beat Notre Dame last year, and Georgia Tech is a double-digit betting favorite against the Noles. Notre Dame will likely be undefeated and highly-ranked when the face FSU, but it won't mean they should be ranked that high.
Notre Dame took quarterback Riley Leonard from Duke via the transfer portal, and he needed ankle surgery in the offseason and missed some of spring camp from the injury he carried into the FSU game, and the Noles knocked him out the rest of the season. Notre Dame must replace some starters on its offense line, and they usually recruit and develop that area well, but what if they take a step back? They also have some holes in their secondary and at linebacker. Notre Dame's offensive coordinator came from LSU, the same LSU team Adam Fuller handled the past two seasons.
