Young Receivers

Besides Ja'Khi Douglas, Mike Norvell didn't mention a single veteran wide receiver from the scrimmage. However, he mentioned freshmen Lawayne McCoy, Elijah Moore, BJ Gibson, and Camdon Frier. He also talked about the freshman tight end Amaree Williams. It seems McCoy was limited recently, but Elijah Moore can contribute in 2024 if he can become consistent on the little things. It's having the right depth on a route, executing a block on a running play, and consistently being where he's supposed to be that's the challenge for younger players.

I still believe veteran receivers like Kentron Poitier and Darion Williamson will have roles early in the season. However, if they don't step up and produce, I don't think Mike Norvell and the staff will hesitate to start throwing the young guys out there to see what they can do. There's too much talent between Hykeem Williams, Jalen Brown, Lawayne McCoy, and Elijah Moore to help Malik Benson and Ja'Khi Douglas.
