FSU football had a massive 2024 NFL Draft, with 10 players selected and six in the top 100. The first few picks went about as expected, with Jared Verse, Keon Coleman, and Braden Fiske getting selected in the top 40. Renardo Green got his name called at the end of the second round before Trey Benson and Jarrian Jones joined the party in the third round to end the night on Friday. It was a longer wait than expected on Saturday, but Jordan Travis, Johnny Wilson, Jaheim Bell, and Tatum Bethune heard their names called in the fifth, sixth, and seventh rounds, respectively. It's the most FSU players drafted since the 2015 NFL Draft. So much for the critics and media who thought FSU was nothing without Jordan Travis at quarterback.

Mike Norvell and the coaching staff have done an amazing job putting the program back on the map. Their ability to evaluate talent AND develop it is second to none. Many folks like to look at the high school rankings to determine how talented a team is, but that's a flawed approach. Jared Verse, Braden Fiske, Renardo Green, Jordan Travis, and Tatum Bethune were not blue-chip players out of high school. Verse and Fiske only had one offer, and nobody thought Jordan Travis could play quarterback three years ago. There's more to talent evaluation than height, weight, and speed, and the coaching staff has the formula down pat. The days of FSU not competing at the highest levels of the sport are in the rearview mirror, and the 2024 NFL Draft will play a major part in it. Here are three ways the 2024 NFL Draft positively impacts the FSU program.
