FSU football: 3 eye opening reasons FSU is bigger than ACC
By Kelvin Hunt
FSU football was at the opening of the 2024 ACC Kickoff in Charlotte, North Carolina, on Monday. The hot-button topic was the lawsuits from FSU and Clemson to depart from the ACC as soon as possible. ACC Commissioner Jim Phillips spoke at length regarding the situation, how it was a distraction, and how the ACC deserved better. He also said the ACC would continue to fight those lawsuits to protect the league. It's all the things he's supposed to say as the ACC Commissioner, but he lied at the end of his statement below. Jim Phillips said, "This conference is bigger than any one school."
Now, Mr. Phillips, we know that's not the case. Yes, if Wake Forest wanted to leave the conference today, it would be addition by subtraction. The same for schools like Boston College, California, and Syracuse. Heck, we could throw in NC State and Virginia Tech. We could probably throw others in there. If any of those schools left the ACC today, the conference wouldn't lose a thing. It would be one less mediocre football program ACC teams would have to split revenue with. However, if and when FSU leaves, it's a totally different ball game, sir. Here are three eye-opening reasons FSU is bigger than the ACC.
