FSU football: 3 EASY ways to improve defense next week against Boston College

Florida State's defense lost its two top tacklers from a season ago in linebackers Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune. Both individuals were very important in making the Seminoles' unit successful in 2023.

Fans questioned how the defense would react to not having much-proven production at the linebacker position. Thankfully, the Seminoles were able to bring back veteran DJ Lundy this offseason after he originally transferred to Colorado.

Then the coaching staff added Auburn's Cam Riley and Alabama's Shawn Murphy via the transfer portal this offseason as well. Riley became a player that they trusted by playing four seasons with the Auburn Tigers.

We saw work from DJ Lundy, Omar Graham Jr., Cam Riley, and Blake Nichelson on Saturday. There were flashes but there were entirely too many missed tackles. I was very surprised to see that Justin Cryer did not make much of an impact (unless he was injured).

Overall, something has to be done about the inconsistency at linebacker or the opposing teams will be willing at will on Florida State all season.
