Who Steps Up At LB Besides DJ Lundy?

The linebacker unit lost two of its best players in years, with Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune looking to make an NFL roster this summer. Thank goodness the coaching staff got DJ Lundy to come to his senses and return to FSU after entering the transfer portal and committing to Colorado. FSU has some young talent with a tad of experience going into the 2024 fall camp. Redshirt freshman Omar Graham saw snaps last year. Freshman Blake Nichelson saw snaps and freshman Justin Cryer saw snaps last year.

However, FSU went the transfer portal route to get more talent and depth in Auburn linebacker Cam Riley and Alabama's Shawn Murphy. Lundy is a likely starter, but the other position is up for grabs going into fall camp. FSU mostly runs a 4-2-5, meaning they'll only have two linebackers on the field most of the time. However, we saw FSU run some 4-3 last year against teams who tried to play bully ball. There's more talent in the room than at any time over the past decade, but the question is how quickly can this talent translate into quality snaps on the field. Mike Norvell mentioned Cam Riley by name at the ACC Kickoff earlier this week, so that may be a name to keep an eye on.
