Injury Luck

Injuries have impacted FSU in the past couple of seasons. Fabien Lovett's injury in 2022 hurt the defense because they lacked depth at defensive tackle. Jared Verse played most of that season hurt, and FSU lacked depth at the defensive end position. Most of the offensive linemen played hurt or missed some time. Treshaun Ward missed nearly half of the season. The 2024 season saw more injuries, but FSU had better talent and depth to overcome. Akeem Dent missing several games greatly impacted the defense.

FSU had more offensive linemen who played hurt. Trey Benson played banged up. Keon Coleman, Johnny Wilson, Ja'Khi Douglas, Kentron Poitier, and Darion Williamson played hurt. FSU is better positioned to overcome injuries in 2024, but can't afford major injuries in positions like safety, tight end, or linebacker. Those are areas where FSU lost some key guys from last year's team, and the don't have much experience if a couple of veterans go down for an extended amount of time.
