FSU basketball is now 2-1 in ACC play with a huge win over a talented Virginia Tech team. After struggling in November and December with inconsistency, the Seminoles are starting to find their stride in conference play, something that needs to continue for them to make the NCAA Tournament. The Noles were not about to let the Hokies defeat them on their own court. In this intense battle between these two evenly matched teams, the Noles were the better team today.

Darin Green Jr., Baba Miller, Jamir Watkins, Cam Corhen, Jaylan Gainey, and Primo Spears were the playmakers of today's game. The three starters Green Jr., Miller, and Watkins were solid on both ends of the court. Green Jr. is having a fantastic senior season so far. His leadership is what makes this team so special, motivating his teammates to be great. He is essentially the Jordan Travis of FSU basketball this year. Watkins and Miller are ball hawks who are dangerous on both ends. This game was no different as they were workhorses offensively and defensively especially in rebounds and free throws.

Strength is found in numbers has always been true for Leonard Hamilton's basketball scheme. Cam Corhen, Jaylan Gainey, and Primo Spears all had a terrific game off the bench, keeping production going for the Noles. Even with the explosiveness coming from Virginia Tech's Sean Pedulla and Hunter Cattoor, Florida State found the advantage with the numbers game. With depth favoring the Noles, they were able to come back against the Hokies in the second half. It was too much to handle for the Hokies. When the bench is just as talented as the starters, it can be difficult for opponents to adjust.

Florida State's depth helped secure this big win over Virginia Tech. Depth has always been the X factor for the Noles, and Leonard Hamilton always uses it to his advantage. If Florida State wants to reach the NCAA Tournament this season, they need to be consistent, and win as many ACC games as they can. This win over Virginia Tech is a step in the right direction. When Florida State plays to their full potential, they can contend with just about anybody.
