Former Florida State defensive end Jared Verse is preparing himself to be a first-round selection in the 2024 NFL Draft that will be starting on Thursday, April 25th.

Verse decided to come back to Tallahassee after he recorded nine sacks during the 2022 season with the Seminoles. The talented pass rusher had another memorable campaign the following year where he had nine sacks once again.

The defensive end was virtually unblockable as the season went on. Head football coach Mike Norvell received some criticism for resting Verse through stretches. However, it seems to pay off as the former Albany transfer had yet another dominant back half of year when the Seminoles needed him the most.

Legendary head football coach Mike Smith, who previously coached with the Falcons, discussed about Verse in an interview with Betway Insider where he stated the following:

""There's a more surprise guy we need to talk about in Jared Verse from Florida State, who was a transfer from Albany University.”

“He's a freak too. He is something. The thing I like about him is he reminds me a lot of Dwight Freeney.”

“He's a guy with elite speed and he's good with his speed to power and that's why he reminds me of Freeney. He understands leverage and he is a productive player against the run.""

This is high praise to compare Verse to as the former NFL passer Dwight Freeney had a productive professional career where he recorded 125.5 sacks during his 17-year NFL career. If Verse can even be half of what Freeney was I think it could be a major success.

This is an exciting time for the talented pass rusher as he looks to make some life-changing money for himself and his loved ones. Most of the NFL mock drafts have him being selected in the late first-round.
