Former FSU QB Jordan Travis officially signs with the New York Jets
Florida State's football program accomplished an incredible feat in the 2023 season by accomplishing an undefeated regular season and conference championship. However, there was a sour taste in Seminole fans' minds when the College Football Playoff committee excluded them from competing for a national championship.
The season-ending injury of superstar quarterback Jordan Travis was stated as the reason behind the committee leaving them out for a one-loss Alabama team. It was unfortunate for Travis as he was the heartbeat of the Seminoles squad.
Travis dealt a ton of adversity during his collegiate career. He even considered quitting the game of football at one point. It would have been heartbreaking to see since individuals could tell how much the former Louisville transfer cared about his teammates.
He will go down in the record books for the Seminoles as he is now the leader for touchdowns responsible in program history. Travis meant a lot to this university. Sadly, the signal-caller will not suit up in the garnet and gold anymore.
However, he will be striking fear in opposing defenses as the New York Jets selected him in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft. On Monday afternoon, the Jets announced that they have officially signed Travis to his rookie deal.
The Jets stated it best on their social media account. The former Florida State football standout brings a winning mentality to the Jets organization. Even though they already have veterans such as Aaron Rodgers and Tyrod Taylor on the roster, he can be able to grow and develop behind them.
Travis was recently cleared to resume football activities after the season-ending injury. With his situation in New York, it allows him to not have too much pressure as he learns to get acclimated to the professional football landscape.
I know that several Florida State football fans will be cheering Jordan Travis on every step of the way.
