Former FSU player graduates from the Noles after being selected in the NFL Draft
Florida State football players had the luxury of being selected in the 2024 NFL Draft. The Seminoles accomplished a wonderful feat when they had an undefeated regular season and a conference championship.
One player that has stood out during his two seasons in Tallahassee was running back Trey Benson. The former Oregon transfer came to the university from the Ducks where he suffered a serious lower-body injury. Seminole fans thought this could be another McKenzie Milton situation where the coaching staff took a chance on a player that would never pan out.
However, he proved several individuals wrong as he accumulated over 1,800 rushing yards and 23 touchdowns in two seasons. Head football coach Mike Norvell always emphasizes the importance of establishing the running game in his offensive scheme.
There were instances where Benson shouldered the load on offense when it got stagnant where he had over five carries of 40+ yards. The Mississippi native was rewarded with being selected in the third round by the Arizona Cardinals. While the league does not prioritize running backs like they used to, Benson is a tremendous talent who showcases power, burst, and explosiveness.
Unfortunately, the running back will have to face off twice a year against the likes of his former teammates Jared Verse and Braden Fiske (Los Angeles Rams) as well as Renardo Green (San Francisco 49ers).
Head football coach Mike Norvell has emphasized the importance of culture within his football program. On Thursday afternoon, Benson had unfinished business as he graduated from Florida State University.
This goes to show that Benson is more than just an "athlete". He is a man who is a value to society. It is such an inspiration to other individuals that the talented running back can sign with an NFL team and graduate from a wonderful institution. Let this be a reminder to never give up on your dreams.
