Former Florida State defensive back continues to impress with his NFL team
Florida State football enjoyed the success of having several contributors from the 2023 season being drafted to NFL teams. This further debunks the notion that the Seminoles were "not good enough" to be included in the College Football Playoff.
The hire of defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. was a huge success in terms of the recruiting trail as well as a development standpoint. The Seminoles had several talented pieces on its secondary that were noteworthy such as Renardo Green (49ers), Akeem Dent (Chargers), and Jarrian Jones (Jaguars).
Jarrian Jones was often a forgotten piece within the Seminoles' secondary where I am very positive that he heard what everyone was saying on Twitter (X). Jones decided to put his head down and work despite what others said about him.
As a college football athlete, it is difficult not to focus on what social media was saying especially when he dealt with a variety of injuries that halted his development. During the 2023 season, the Mississippi native recorded 25 tackles (five for loss) and three interceptions (led the team).
It was a sensational campaign for the defensive back where fans did not know what to expect for him. The great performance in 2023 was able to get him drafted by the Jacksonville Jaguars with the 96th overall pick in the third round of the 2024 NFL Draft.
It is great to see that Seminole fans will be able to continue to watch Jones develop at the next level. Ironically, Demetrius Harvey from Jaxdotcom reported that the former Seminole had an interception yesterday in practice and continues to stack impressive days today.
This is so vital in Jones' development. Throughout his time in college, confidence has always been a big booster for him. I cannot wait to see how Jarrian continues to prove why the Jacksonville Jaguars made the best decision by selecting him.
