Former Baylor QB Robert Griffin III defends the Seminoles on social media
Florida State football had an unfortunate turn of events in December of last year when the undefeated Seminoles were excluded from competing for a national championship in the 4-team College Football Playoff in favor of a one-loss Alabama Crimson Tide.
Several individuals felt that the Seminoles did not belong and that fans were overreacting to what transpired. Former Baylor quarterback Robert Griffin III has always been supportive of Florida State and the fact that they should have been included in the playoff.
I already mentioned in a previous article that an ESPN analyst Paul Finebaum went on First Take and bashed the Seminoles and the fact that they will be unranked at the end of the 2024 season.
Finebaum has always been an individual who dislikes the program it seems. However, it was refreshing to see how Robert Griffin III defended Florida State football on social media.
It seems like everyone is taking cheap shots or throwing shade at Florida State. I know that the Seminoles' football program has been a bit unlucky. However, it is easy to notice that the squad has vastly improved since head football coach Mike Norvell took over.
This is a new era of Florida State football where the coaching staff added new pieces to the team from the transfer portal and recruiting ranks. The over/under win total looks to be at 9.5 so Vegas indicates that the Seminoles should be in contention for winning the ACC. Being a conference champion would guarantee that the Seminoles would be a top-four seed in the playoffs (unlike last year).
This squad is hungry for an opportunity to prove the doubters. They don't need to see Finebaum's comments to make them want to play harder. This is a Seminoles team that has to learn to battle through adversity and control what they can control.
Overall, it is great to see Robert Griffin III see the perspective of what several individuals around the Florida State football program are feeling.
