Football coach Mike Norvell enjoying the Cam Smith homer in the fifth inning
Florida State football's team enjoy many successes during their 2023 season. Head football coach Mike Norvell has singlehandedly changed the perception of the program seemingly overnight.
A select group of fans thought Norvell might not be the man for the job. However, athletic director Michael Alford and company showcased a sense of patience even when it did not look pretty. The unforgettable loss to FCS opponent Jacksonville State at home was a head scratcher.
However, the Seminoles have gone a combined 23-4 over the past two seasons. This is a Florida State football team that many teams throughout the college football landscape do not want to mess with.
Florida State head baseball coach Link Jarrett had a disappointing first season where his team went 23-31. The baseball program, just like football, is a team with a proud tradition where fans aren't accustomed to losing.
Overall, Jarrett has got his offense on fire as the Seminoles are currently sitting with a 44-15 record, have a top-eight overall seed, and host a regional. This is a team that can go long with home runs if everything clicks.
Florida State is hosting UCF in an elimination game for the Knights as the Seminoles look to advance to the Super Regionals to take on the winner of the Norman Regional.
Florida State head football coach Mike Norvell has always been supportive of the other athletic programs with the Seminoles. Norvell was actually in attendance for Florida State's Sunday night matchup versus the UCF Knights.
The Seminoles were trailing by a score of 2-0 in the bottom of the fifth inning. However, infielder Cam Smith blasted a home run to right center field to tie the game up at 2. You can see Norvell clapping his hands in celebration of the homer.
For reference, Cam Smith was not showcasing an obscene gesture rounding third base (*cough* UCF media members*). Norvell seems to be enjoying himself as the Smith home run set up a nine-run fifth inning for the Seminoles.
