Thursday night was important for the Florida State Seminoles. Following their heartbreaking double overtime loss to Notre Dame on Sunday, the team used the next three days to regroup and make adjustments. With that being said, the Noles traveled on the road and got an important 71-63 win over Wake Forest.

This win for Florida State has a lot of situations to unfold. As always, Ta’Niya Latson led the way offensively as she finished with 23 points. The Seminoles also had a big third quarter as they outscored Wake Forest 21-12 during the period. However, the biggest story of the night was upperclassmen Sara Bejedi and Makayla Timpson both reaching 1,000 points scored for their college careers.

Latson was able to reach the 1,000-point mark in the Seminoles’ huge win over Virginia Tech on January 14. A month later, the love was being shared. Bejedi came into the game just seven points away from the big four-digits. Truth be told, it was on her mind as she got off to a hot start to the contest and knocked down her first three-pointer seven seconds into the game. As the first half continued, Bejedi continued to stay in attack mode as she finally surpassed the 1,000-point mark before heading to the locker room.

As for Timpson, the milestone wasn’t her main priority. Her mindset was to continue to be an anchor defensively and crash the boards for Florida State. She made sure to do so as she finished with 16 rebounds and 2 blocks to go with her 16 blocks. While Timpson was quiet offensively through the first half, she started to put the ball in the basket during the second half, inching her closer to the 1,000-point mark.

Later in the second half, Makayla Timpson would join Bejedi in surpassing 1,000 points scored for her college career. Luckily, the milestone for both players resulted in a big win on the road. After the win, Florida State head coach Brooke Wyckoff made sure to highlight Bejedi and Timpson’s milestone with a celebration in the locker room. What a great accomplishment for both players who play huge roles on the team. Bejedi and Timpson join the likes of Latson, Natasha Howard, Shakayla Thomas, and others for 1,000 points scored in school history.

The Seminoles’ season is coming down to the wire. They currently have a 9-5 record in the ACC and have a top-five record in the conference. Their next meeting takes place on Sunday in South Florida as they prepare for another ACC battle with the Miami Hurricanes on ACC Network.
