There might be some individuals out there who were spending their Friday afternoon planning fun party activities for the weekend. However, on Friday, the Florida State football team was participating in their "squat party".

Florida State Director of Strength and Conditioning Josh Storms stated that Friday was the team's squat party where they partake in lifting weights and testing their limits.

Florida State has grown a ton as a program under head football coach Mike Norvell. The term "culture" is a cliche term that is utilized around the college football landscape. But how many teams truly follow that mindset for bettering the program by 1% each day?

Norvell inherited a complete disaster when he arrived in Tallahassee in December 2019. The Seminoles were on their third head football coach in as little as three seasons. This was an uncharacteristic trend for a program that was filled with stability which was started by the late and great Bobby Bowden.

During the first two seasons of the Norvell era, it could have been easy to be swayed by the combination of an 8-13 record. However, the Seminoles stayed strong through the adversity and responded incredibly by achieving a 23-4 record in the past two seasons.

Norvell now has the college football world watching as he commands excellence from his program. The team is looking to prove the doubters wrong in 2024 as they were snubbed at the opportunity to compete for a championship in 2023 after the College Football Playoff committee chose a one-loss Alabama over an undefeated Florida State to be placed in the "invitational".

The Florida State football team is filled with 38 scholarship newcomers. This will be a learning curve for the squad that will do its best to continue the standard that is now expected from the Seminoles.

These are the dog days of the offseason that prepare you for the grueling moments that occur during the season. It is an exciting time in Tallahassee as the football team begins spring practice soon.
