Five Florida State football players who will battle for jobs in spring practice
CAZIAH HOLMES
The running back position is a crowded one for the Florida State Seminoles, especially after they decided to add Alabama veteran transfer Roydell Williams. Running backs coach David Johnson has a ton of weapons at his disposal.
There seem to be a ton of individuals thinking that Williams could be penciled in as the starter while Lawrance Toafili will still get his opportunity. However, one name that gets forgotten in the shuffle at times is Caziah Holmes.
Holmes originally transferred in as a preferred walk-on from Penn State. He had 56 rushing attempts for 254 yards and 2 touchdowns during his time with the Nittany Lions. However, he made his opportunity come to life in 2023 even when Trey Benson was the starting back where he accumulated 29 carries for 185 yards and 2 touchdowns.
While it does not seem like much from a statistical standpoint, it could be a weapon that the Seminoles could utilize with the team not having the services of Trey Benson, Rodney Hill, and CJ Campbell Jr.
Overall, I see Holmes at the very least pushing for a No. 2 running back spot.
