Does Florida State have a chance to land 4-star safety target Jordan Young?
Florida State football had a massive recruiting weekend this past week where several prospects are trending in favor of the Seminoles. The program's fan base was frustrated with the lack of commitments but they have pulled off pledges from four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley and four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn since then.
Several other prospects could be decided to join Florida State's 2025 recruiting class shortly. However, the Seminoles have not batted 100% with the prospects over the weekend as four-star defensive back Shamar Arnoux announced his commitment to the USC Trojans.
It seems like four-star cornerback Gregory "Zae" Thomas from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida remains their top target at the position. Fans know that defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. is a tenacious recruiter who knows how to relate with prospects.
Surtain Sr. secured four signings during the 2024 recruiting class with Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III. Those additions will be beneficial as the program looks to continue its classification of "DBU".
The Seminoles have not accumulated any defensive backs in this class. However, there are plenty of options to choose from at the position as Florida State will likely try to acquire three defensive back prospects.
One target to monitor is four-star safety Jordan Young from Monroe, North Carolina. He officially visited the Seminoles during the weekend of June 14th. It looks like it could come down to a decision between Florida State and Clemson. Even though Young has crystal ball predictions in favor of Clemson, he will be making his decision on October 12th.
On Wednesday night, Young posted pictures of himself in the Seminoles' all-garnet uniform combination.
The good news is that the Seminoles will play the Clemson Tigers in the friendly confines of Doak Campbell Stadium on October 5th. That is plenty of time to beat the Tigers on the football field and show the four-star defensive back who runs the conference.
