I remember vividly when Florida State football fans were so frustrated that the Seminoles elected to bring in Oregon running back transfer Trey Benson. At the time, the former Class of 2020 four-star prospect battled injuries during his time with the Ducks.

Seminole fans were quick to discount his abilities considering what they saw from the failed experiment of bringing in UCF quarterback transfer McKenzie Milton who dealt with his series of injuries.

Benson did not have much production in Eugene where he only recorded six carries for 22 yards and one touchdown. The coaching staff was projecting the back's ability to succeed while also taking a risk with the injury. As we knew at the time, the coaching staff had success with backs such as Jashaun Corbin, LaDamien Webb, and Treshaun Ward.

Benson certainly proved the doubters wrong when he accumulated 1,896 yards and 23 touchdowns during his two-year playing career with the Seminoles. On Saturday afternoon, the talented running back wowed the NFL scouts by running a 4.39 40-yard dash at the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine.
