Florida State football does not have a defensive back committed to their 2025 recruiting class at this time. However, fans know that notion might not last for long since defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr. has made his presence felt on the recruiting trail.

Surtain Sr. already secured four commitments during the 2024 cycle with Charles Lester III, Jamari Howard, Cai Bates, and Ricky Knight III. The Seminoles have set themselves up nicely for a promising future in the secondary.

Florida State defensive coordinator Adam Fuller loves to utilize multiple defensive backs in his 4-2-5 defensive scheme. The possibilities are endless when it comes to the secondary.

We focused on four-star cornerback targets Gregory "Zae" Thomas and Shamar Arnoux because they officially visited during the massive recruiting weekend. However, as most know, recruiting is ever-changing.

On Sunday night, more dominoes began to fall as Class of 2025 four-star cornerback target Jaboree Antoine from Westgate High School in New Iberia, Louisiana has de-committed from LSU.

You don't usually see Louisiana-born prospects leave the state, but this could be an opportunity for Florida State to jump on. Antoine recently officially visited the Seminoles during the June 14th weekend and enjoyed himself.

The talented defensive back will be focusing on Florida State, Miami, and LSU going forward. For reference, he officially visited the Hurricanes on the weekend of June 7th. It is reasonable to mention that four-star defensive back target Otis Konanbanny will likely wind up at Tennessee so the coaching staff navigated to other prospects.

The Louisiana native recorded five interceptions last season for his high school. This would be a major get for the Seminoles as he is ranked as the 61st-best prospect according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.

I envision the Seminoles taking at least three defensive back prospects during this recruiting class and I believe that Florida State has a solid chance to land Antoine.
