I would like to wish our ChopChat audience and their loved ones a Happy Fourth of July! The Fourth of July is known for bringing fireworks.

It has been a rough couple of days for the Seminoles on the recruiting trail with three linebackers of four-star Zaydrius Rainey-Sale (Washington), four-star Gavin Nix (Miami), and four-star Tavion Wallace (Arkansas) committed elsewhere. The fan base became frustrated and the coaching staff was the subject of criticism.

The Fourth of July is the birthday of Florida State offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins. Atkins is considered one of the best recruiters on the Seminoles' coaching staff. He relates very well with recruits and transfers on the offensive line.

On Thursday afternoon, the Seminoles got a tremendous pickup as Class of 2025 four-star interior offensive lineman Peyton Joseph from Houston County High School in Warner Robins, Georgia announced his commitment to Florida State.

He was deciding between the Seminoles and the Memphis Tigers. However, Florida State won out for his services in the end. This was massive for the Seminoles to get some much-needed recruiting momentum on the trail. Memphis had his high school quarterback (four-star Antwann Hill Jr.) committed to the fold.

As the four-star linebacker Tavion Wallace's recruitment unfolded, the Seminoles couldn't afford to let it happen again. Once upon a time, four-star Peyton Joseph was committed to the arch-rival Florida Gators, but the offensive lineman decided to back off of his pledge.

Once the de-commitment happened, Florida State began to recruit Joseph heavily. While the Seminoles have five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas from Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida, it was recommended that Florida State get at least three offensive linemen in this recruiting cycle.

Some of their targets went elsewhere such as four-star Ziyare Addison (Oregon), four-star Max Buchanan (Miami), four-star Mario Nash Jr. (Mississippi State), and four-star Dontrell Glover (Georgia). As a result, picking up Peyton Joseph was even more monumental.

For reference, five-star offensive tackle target Josh Petty from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia is set to make his decision on his birthday (August 12th) so we will see if they add to their offensive line haul.
