Alabama softball team attempts to troll the Seminoles' CFP snub in football
On Wednesday afternoon, the Florida State Seminoles' softball team was defeated by the Alabama Crimson Tide by a score of 4-1. Pitcher Allison Royalty did not possess her best stuff on the mound as the Seminoles fell to a top-15 opponent.
However, the Alabama softball team took a different approach as they posted on social media after the contest in a troll attempt.
The "Can't blame the committee tonight" post was in regards to Florida State being left out of the College Football Playoff "invitational". For reference, the Seminoles' football team went undefeated in the regular season and secured a conference championship last season.
Even with the injury of superstar quarterback Jordan Travis, Florida State found a way to battle through the difficult times of playing new a signal-caller and relying upon their defense. Even though it was not the most picture-perfect outcome, the Seminoles found a way to win and have a zero in the loss column.
Unfortunately, the playoff committee deemed Florida State not worthy of the opportunity to compete for a championship. Surprisingly, they felt that it was necessary to insert a one-loss Alabama team who lost at HOME to Texas by two possessions. The Crimson Tide were necessarily dominate as they were in years past.
However, they got hot at the right time as their quarterback Jalen Milroe began to gain confidence in himself as a serviceable player in the SEC. The Crimson Tide finished the season beating then-No. 1 Georgia Bulldogs in the SEC Championship.
This became too much for the College Football Playoff committee to ignore as they did the unthinkable and made individuals such as Kirk Herbstreit very happy with leaving out the undefeated Seminoles.
Head football coach Mike Norvell and his squad would go on to lose in the Orange Bowl versus the Georgia Bulldogs in blowout fashion since the majority of their contributors opted out of the contest.
