8 weeks away from Florida State football's season opener versus Georgia Tech
DB AZAREYE'H THOMAS
To say that I am super excited about junior defensive back Azareye'h Thomas is an understatement. The Niceville (FL) native is shaping up to have a phenomenal campaign as defensive backs such as Renardo Green, Jarrian Jones, and Akeem Dent are off to the NFL.
Thomas will have to step into a leadership role to command defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr.'s position room. He showcased flashes last season of being great where he recorded 29 tackles (4.5 for loss) and ten passes defended.
I realize that at the time when Thomas was recruited by the Seminoles back in the 2022 recruiting cycle, the former four-star prospect was an afterthought after what transpired with former five-star commit Travis Hunter flipping to Deion Sanders and company. However, Thomas remains to be a stable figure in the secondary for Florida State.
I am a bit bullish on Thomas's skillset. I believe that he is the second-best player on the team behind defensive end Patrick Payton. I have high expectations for him as I believe that he has what it takes to be a top fifteen NFL Draft pick in 2025.
