6 weeks away from FSU football's 2024 season opener versus Georgia Tech
Florida State football is getting here faster than we know it. The Seminoles accomplished an undefeated regular season and a conference championship last season. However, head football coach Mike Norvell and company will be looking to prove the doubters wrong as the College Football Playoff Committee did not allow the Seminoles to compete for a national championship.
The squad will look completely different in 2024 with various new transfers and recruits. However, the Seminoles seem to be up to the challenge as they have a combined 23-4 record over the past two seasons.
It is almost that time of year again as we are six weeks away from Florida State football's 2024 season opener versus the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets in Dublin, Ireland on Saturday, August 24th.
Two players wear the number six jersey number on the Seminoles' roster in redshirt junior defensive tackle Darrell Jackson Jr. and redshirt freshman wide receiver Jalen Brown.
DT DARRELL JACKSON JR.
Regarding Jackson Jr., he is projected to be a starter at the defensive tackle position alongside veteran Joshua Farmer (they are close friends and former high school teammates). The former Maryland and Miami transfer did not get to play during the 2023 regular season and conference championship due to the NCAA's denial of his waiver due to a two-time transfer rule (which is not even active anymore). Jackson Jr. was taking care of his ailing mother.
It was an unfortunate set of events for all parties involved. Luckily, the defensive tackle will be able to play this season. The Seminoles have their work cut out for them as they look to replicate production from Braden Fiske and Fabien Lovett Sr.
WR JALEN BROWN
Florida State was able to pick up former four-star wide receiver prospect Jalen Brown via the transfer portal from the LSU Tigers The Seminoles were high on the former Gulliver Prep standout in high school. His combination of speed as well as his frame was exciting to the coaching staff.
Brown did not record any statistics during his one season in Baton Rouge. However, he is looking to make a contribution in Tallahassee with his breakaway speed and ability to make defenders miss in the open field. He should get some burn this year as quarterback DJ Uiagalelei looks to show off his strong arm.
