5-star OT target will be unofficially visiting Florida State today
Florida State currently has one offensive lineman committed to the 2025 class in five-star interior offensive lineman Solomon Thomas from Raines High School in Jacksonville, Florida.
However, that does not mean that offensive coordinator/offensive line coach Alex Atkins is finished with securing more offensive linemen in this class. It is only the month of March. There will be a lot of movement as the Garnet and Gold Spring Showcase in April and the camps in the summer.
Overall, Atkins has made a name for himself by being able to relate to recruits and it is very important to build lasting relationships with a variety of prospects. The coaching staff has brought in creative methods to bring recruits on campus such as the Legacy Day event with unveiling All-American bricks on campus for former players.
The prospects also have the opportunity to witness practices, which are not always accessible when visiting other programs. Spring practice in back in Tallahassee for Tuesday afternoon before they conduct a scrimmage on Thursday, which is not accessible to media members.
According to a report from 247Sports' Director of Football Recruiting Steve Wiltfong, Class of 2025 five-star offensive tackle target Josh Petty from Fellowship Christian School in Roswell, Georgia will be unofficially visiting Florida State today.
Petty is listed as the 24th-best prospect in the 2025 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings.
This is massive news for the Seminoles as they hope to replace veteran talent such as Maurice Smith, Jeremiah Byers, Darius Washington, Robert Scott Jr., and Keiondre Jones on the offensive line after the season.
Atkins has to put on his recruiting hat and pursue top-tier talent for the program. While they are young prospects and likely won't contribute until year two or three, elite teams retool and reload in the trenches on the offensive and defensive lines.
