FSU football is having to replace both Johnny Wilson and Keon Coleman at the wide receiver position as they declare for the 2024 NFL Draft. This did not come as a surprise to Seminole fans as the veterans combined for 91 receptions on 1,275 yards and 13 touchdowns during the 2023 season.

Wide receivers coach Ron Dugans will have his hands full with having to bring together his inexperienced group to replicate the numbers that will be missed by Wilson and Coleman.

Florida State was able to recruit talented prospects at the position with players such as Destyn Hill, Hykeem Williams, Vandrevius Jacobs, Elijah Moore, BJ Gibson, Camdon Frier, and Lawayne McCoy.

While much of the attention is on five-star prospects Jaime Ffrench Jr. and Caleb Cunningham in the 2025 recruiting cycle, it should be noted that four-star Vernell Brown III should be considered as a serious candidate as well.

On Thursday afternoon, Brown III announced his top eleven schools list, and Florida State was included.

Brown III comes from Jones High School in Orlando, Florida. The Seminoles could have an advantage in the recruitment considering the familiarity that he has with Class of 2024 four-star quarterback signee Trever Jackson, who also played at Jones High School.

The talented pass catcher had a remarkable 2023 season where he accumulated 70 receptions for 1,363 yards and 10 touchdowns. The "Big Three" in the state of Florida (Florida State, Florida, and Miami) are heavily pursuing his commitment.

The Gators have family ties given that his father (Vernell Brown) played defensive back at Florida from 2001-2005. However, Brown III has given teams chances to recruit him as he has visited all three schools over the past month.

Class of 2025 four-star quarterback commit Tramell Jones Jr. is even putting his recruiting hat on to bring him to Tallahassee.

It would be great to see Jones Jr. have some a talented athlete at his disposal to throw the football to. It will be a battle to acquire his services, but head football coach Mike Norvell and company have showcased that they are not afraid to back down from a challenge.
