4-star QB commit Tramell Jones Jr. shuts down his recruitment to the Noles

Florida State football's coaching staff is excellently acquiring highly-touted prospects to put in its 2025 recruiting class after recently grabbing four-star wide receiver CJ Wiley and four-star defensive tackles Kevin Wynn and Myron Charles.

The Seminoles are currently the 57th-best recruiting class in their 2025 cycle according to the 247Sports Composite rankings. While it is important to secure prospects to pair alongside the class, I would say it is just as vital to keep the committed prospects in the fold as well.

A prospect like four-star defensive end commit Javion Hilson from Cocoa, Florida announced after his official visit weekend with the Seminoles this past weekend announced that he was shutting his recruitment for good in favor of head football coach Mike Norvell and Florida State.

This was exciting news for the program as they were going toe to toe with the Texas Longhorns for Hilson. Luckily enough, the pass rusher decided to stick with the team in Tallahassee.

However, Hilson was not the only committed prospect that Florida State was battling for. They were also trying to keep four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr. from Mandarin High School in Jacksonville, Florida in the fold.

Jones Jr. was flirting with communicating with the arch-rival Florida Gators. It was a bit strange since the Gators already have their quarterback of the future with five-star DJ Lagway plus it was not a guarantee that head football coach Billy Napier would be there after the 2024 season with the difficult stretch of November.

The talented signal-caller finally put the rumors to bed as the Jacksonville (FL) native put on Twitter (X) that he was shutting his recruitment down.

This is massive news for the Seminoles. With that said, recruiting is ever-changing and it involves teenagers making one of the most important decisions of their lifetimes. However, it is great to see Jones Jr. being faithful to the Seminoles.
