4-star DE Javion Hilson will be visiting Florida State this weekend
Florida State football has been through so much hardship this season as they lost to Georgia Tech, Boston College, Memphis, and SMU. The Seminoles were projected to have an over/under 9.5 win total in the preseason (the under already hit through five games).
The program's perception has been negative especially with the losing. Recruits are starting to doubt the abilities in the fifth year of the Mike Norvell era in Tallahassee as four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, four-star defensive tackle Myron Charles, and four-star wide receiver Malik Clark de-committed from Florida State recently.
The Seminoles did acquire four-star running back Byron Louis from American Heritage High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. His high school teammate (four-star cornerback Gregory Thomas) is committed to the program and his former high school head football coach (defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr.) is on the Seminoles' staff so the decision made sense.
Florida State fans are wondering if the program will get any momentum in recruiting. However, it could be tough sledding as the losing continues. It is good to know that the Seminoles will host several prospects on campus this weekend for the matchup versus Clemson.
According to a report from Rivals' Adam Gorney, Class of 2025 four-star defensive end Javion Hilson will be visiting for the game. This is huge to get back in the recruitment for the talented pass rusher. Florida State only has one defensive lineman committed to the fold in four-star defensive tackle Kevin Wynn.
They desperately need to find a way to get Hilson back in the fold. The Seminoles have done well with getting defensive ends out of the transfer portal. However, in recruiting, it has been a struggle. Florida State has only had former four-star prospect and current defensive end Patrick Payton.
It could be the fact that Hilson is getting a free visit to the campus, but it is still great that he is coming back to Tallahassee.
