4-star DE commit Javion Hilson schedules OV with the Noles

Florida State is currently ranked as the 24th-best recruiting class in the 2025 cycle with only four commitments in five-star offensive lineman Solomon, four-star quarterback Trammell Jones Jr., four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, and four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard.

Speaking of Hilson, Florida State was able to take advantage of legendary head football coach Nick Saban retiring. The talented defensive end de-committed from the Crimson Tide and committed to the Seminoles in January.

Unfortunately, the Crimson Tide are not going away with their new coaching staff of first-year head football coach Kalen DeBoer. However, the Cocoa native has continued to stay firm in his pledge with Florida State.

Just as I alluded to in several articles, recruiting is so unpredictable given that it involves teenagers making the most important decisions of their lifetimes. Teams, not only Alabama, are heavily engaging in trying to flip the defensive end.

According to a report from On3's Chad Simmons, he has locked in official visits to Florida (May 31st), Alabama (June 7th), UCF (June 14th), and Florida State (June 21st).

It is great to see that Florida State is having the final visit where the Seminoles get to make their best impression. Acquiring pass rushers is very important due to their impact in being able to generate pressure on opposing quarterbacks.

Unfortunately, the Seminoles have had some bad luck with losing out on talented defensive ends. Florida State had the luxury of having the ultra-talented defensive end Jared Verse on the roster for the past two seasons in Tallahassee.

However, Verse is now on to the NFL. While veterans such as Patrick Payton Jr., Marvin Jones Jr., and Byron Turner Jr. are on the roster, it is always important to get as many pass rushers as possible. It should be at the top of the coaching staff's list to keep Hilson in the class.
