Florida State football currently has four prospects committed to its 2025 recruiting class in five-star offensive lineman Solomon Thomas, four-star quarterback Tramell Jones Jr., four-star defensive end Javion Hilson, and four-star linebacker Ethan Pritchard.

However, the Seminoles have not secured a pledge in the cycle since four-star defensive end Javion Hilson flipped his commitment from Alabama to Florida after legendary head football coach Nick Saban shockingly retired in January.

It was an amazing pickup for the Seminoles as pass rusher has become a premier position where it can effectively impact a game where the position affects opposing quarterbacks and how they want to operate offensively.

Hilson is considered a top-50 recruit in most recruiting databases. The talented defensive end prospect had a very successful junior campaign where he recorded 97 total tackles (27 for loss), 44 quarterback hurries, and 14 sacks.

He is looking to elevate his skill set even further during his senior season. One thing to monitor is the fact that Alabama (the school that committed to previously) is still heavily recruiting him. Recruiting is an ever-changing process where it involves teenagers making the most difficult decisions in their lifetimes.

Let's remember four-star defensive end prospect Armondo Blount from the 2024 recruiting cycle where he committed to the Miami Hurricanes then made his decision to flip to Florida State then he decided to flip back to the Hurricanes where he ultimately signed with them.

Hilson posted on social media that his body transformed into what it is today. In just two short years, he has went from 170 pounds to 236 pounds (what he is right now).

That growth has elevated his game to a different level where several schools paid attention to him as a prospect and he was able to impact opposing offensive linemen when they were blocking.
