4-star DB target Gregory Xavier Thomas announces commitment date
Florida State football is ranked outside the top 60 in the 2025 247Sports Composite rankings. However, that should not be the case for long as the coaching staff looks to generate momentum on the recruiting trail.
There will be several highly-touted prospects this weekend on campus. In case you missed the list of visitors, be sure to go check out our article highlighting all of the recruits.
This will be a wonderful opportunity for the coaching staff to seize the chance to build a foundation for their roster for years to come. One target that I want to discuss is four-star defensive back Gregory Xavier Thomas from American Heritage High School in Plantation, Florida.
He has been a prospect that we have discussed quite a bit on the site and has remained a top priority for the Seminoles. However, we did not know when a decision could be made for the talented defender. However, on Thursday night, he announced his commitment date and who he will be choosing from.
June 30th is right around the corner and it sets up nicely for a prospect that already has a strong bond with defensive backs coach Patrick Surtain Sr., who used to be his head football coach at American Heritage High School.
Clemson is worrisome to a degree since recruiting is so ever-changing with teenagers making one of the hardest decisions in their lifetimes. However, Florida State has been working so hard in this recruitment to bring Thomas to Tallahassee.
On another note, his high school teammate (four-star running back Byron Louis) will also be officially visiting Florida State this weekend. On his Instagram account, he wants Thomas to commit to Florida State (Louis does not have an offer to Clemson, for what it is worth).
That would be a massive recruiting haul for Florida State to get both American Heritage High School standouts. This should be a great summer for the Seminoles in recruiting.
