LB BLAKE NICHELSON

Florida State fans were nervous about the linebacker core after veterans such as Kalen DeLoach and Tatum Bethune graduated and moved on to the NFL. DeLoach and Bethune were pivotal pieces in a defense that was so successful in 2023.

Luckily, the program was able to bring back veteran DJ Lundy after he committed to Colorado this offseason. He was an experienced piece that returns in a position room that did not have much production in the defensive system.

The coaching staff added veterans such as Auburn's Cam Riley and Alabama's Shawn Murphy. Riley has been solid this season, but nothing special. I like the youngster Justin Cryer, who has played very well. However, the coaches wanted to see more from Blake Nichelson.

The former four-star prospect had eight tackles in the matchup versus California. It looks like he could continue to get better in the defense. I am excited for his development.
