DE MARVIN JONES JR.

Florida State has continued to churn out defensive end talent via the transfer portal. The Seminoles have had luck with pass rushers in the transfer portal such as Jermaine Johnson II, Keir Thomas, and Jared Verse.

Could Georgia defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. be the next acquisition to make his mark on the program? Seminole fans certainly hope so as the redshirt junior is the son of legendary linebacker Marvin "Shade Tree" Jones Sr., who played with the Seminoles in the 1990s.

While Jones Jr. did not make much of an impact with Georgia, the coaching staff is expecting the talented pass rusher to carve himself a significant role. I do not want to discount the other defensive end transfers on the roster such as Oregon State's Sione Lolohea.

Fans will put Jones Jr. under a microscope due to his father's legacy with Florida State. The Seminoles wanted to find viable options to pair alongside superstar Patrick Payton after do-it-all Jared Verse was selected by the Rams in the 2024 NFL Draft.
