3 reasons why FSU +6 versus SMU could be a smart play
RUNNING GAME OF FLORIDA STATE
Florida State football had an impressive output last season with ultra-talented running back Trey Benson, who accumulated 1,800+ rushing yards and 23 touchdowns during two seasons in Tallahassee.
The program excelled in establishing the running game last year. The coaching staff was excited about the potential of the running backs and the veteran offensive line. The Seminoles added Alabama's Roydell Williams and Indiana's Jaylin Lucas via the transfer portal.
However, Williams is out for an extended time of period with an injury and Lucas suffered a season-ending injury versus Boston College. As a result, Florida State decided to start Lawrance Toafili and Kameron Davis against California.
The dynamic duo had 24 carries for 115 yards and a touchdown. Lawrance Toafili had not had much utilization besides the 28-yard touchdown versus Georgia Tech, but he was featured in the game. I believe that with Toafili's speed and Davis's power, they could be a challenge for opposing defenses.
It could also slow the game down if Florida State has an effective running game.
