3 position battles to monitor with one week away from the Noles' Spring Showcase
RUNNING BACK
Florida State has to replace the likes of ultra-talented running back Trey Benson who had over 1,800 yards and 23 touchdowns during his two-year playing career with the Seminoles. Fans were hesitant at first with Benson's injury history, but he delivered in a huge way.
During the 2024 season, the Seminoles consist of new backs on the roster with players such as transfers Roydell Williams (Alabama) and Jaylin Lucas (Indiana) as well as recruits Kameron Davis and Micahi Danzy. I wonder if an athlete like Lucas will even play at the running back position.
That does not mention returning pieces such as Lawrance Toafili and Caziah Holmes who could also have meaningful playing time. As running backs coach David Johnson alludes to on occasion, the position group is "all on fries" where all of the backs have a brotherhood and celebrate each other for their successes.
I think a committee approach is for Florida State at the running back position. I don't think there will be a situation where one of the backs has over 900 yards by themselves. However, I wonder how the reps will be spread out through the room.
