DE PATRICK PAYTON

The redshirt junior defensive end is in a position to have a special 2024 campaign with the Seminoles having to replace ultra-talented pass rusher Jared Verse, who was selected with the 19th overall pick of the 2024 NFL Draft by the Los Angeles Rams.

While Florida State is known for their transfer portal defensive ends succeeding at a high rate with players such as Jermaine Johnson II, Keir Thomas, and Jared Verse, it is worth mentioning that former four-star prospect Patrick Payton was a homegrown product that the Seminoles recruited.

Payton has gotten better every single season that he has been in Tallahassee. During the 2022 season, he recorded 31 tackles (six for loss) and five sacks. However, last season, he turned it up a bit when he had 44 tackles (14.5 for loss), seven sacks, and 10 pass breakups.

I know that defensive end Marvin Jones Jr. has been a talking point amongst the fan base. However, let's not forget about Payton in what looks like could be his final season. I am fully prepared to have an insane amount of sacks in the video game with the Miami native.
